    are spark plugs interchangable

Had brand new plugs in the 1985m, 3.5 carby motor, when my son rolled it after front tyre blow out. Do these also fit the 1990 3.9 L efi motor in the 1990 that we now have. The Bocsh book at Super Cheap listed different number for the plugs, but is that only a slight plug temperature difference that will not matter anyway. The plugs I have are NGK.

if they fit in the hole and are less sooty than the ones you've got, give 'em a try until you've got sufficient funds to get the spec set. when i was just on petrol i'd have wasted nearly as much on fuel driving to supacheap with fouled plugs to pay for the new ones !
now i'm on gas my whole little economic world has been thrown on its head. times are tough all over eh ?

They will work if you have to use them. As you've found out efi are slightly different. Land Rover FAQ - Repair & Maintenance - Range Rover

Like Tony says, they will be fine. The EFI ones are only a different heat range, NGK BPR6ES for EFI, BPR5ES for carby (Late) The early engines used a shorter reach plug, I think up to about 1976(?). NGK have the hotter plugs as a lower number. The R denotes resistor plugs, favoured for electronic ignition systems.
I wouldn't use any other brand in the Rover V8, they are a good plug.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

you say you would not use any other brand. Years ago, from the early 1970's unitl the early 1990's I had VW's, as at that time Range Rovers were very expensive. I had a wonderful classic book called "How to keep your Volkswagon alive, a step by step guide for the complete idiot." It said only use Bosch, Beru, or NGK spark plugs as all others strip the thread of alloy heads. Rarely have seen Beru spark plugs, so since then always used only Bosch or NGK plugs, usually NGK, unless Bosch were on special. So your statement that "I wouldn't use any other brand makes" sense to me. But does that include Bosch plugs. Certainly other Bosch electrics were preferable to Lucas [the prince of Darkness.] But who do their plugs rate.

According to the NGK site which I just looked at 3.9 range rover takes BPR5ES.

The reason they take the R is that about 1991 it became law that cars had to have resistor plugs for EM supression reasons.
There is a slight chance that BP5ES may affect the ECU but I have never had a problem.
Magnacore recommend non resistor plugs with their leads. I fitted Bosch WDR9DC ???because Supercrap did not have any NGK at the time , but I do not think they perform as well as the BP5ES.
