One of the wires from the coil go to it, it has a 2 pin plug on the top (some have 3 pins), it is black in colour with a white plate on the outside it is about 2"x2" square and about 1/2" thick (50mmx50mmx12mm), the thermo greases helps with heat transfer, you can get a tube from Computer stores, tell them it is for a Heat Sink, the coil you bought is OK for the job, mine has done 60K with no problems, temp sender should be be at the front of the inlet manifold in the water jacket, Regards Frank.
If the Temp guage is playing up as well is it possible that there is maybe a bad earth somewhere when hot ????
I suggested he (glenn82) buy a MSD coil, same as the one on my 93 Disco which has done the last 60K without missing a beat, I tried buying an original Bosch 2 years ago, nobody even had a listing for them let alone a coil in stock. Had an Auto leccy do a search for me and he was told by the Bosch rep. to buy the MSD part#8222, works fine, Regards Frank.
yep same scenario as tank, know one knew nothing,,,,,,,, about bosch coil for landie
Hi glen 82 I had a v8 disco 1 and mine died on the top of a big hill in VIC high country not the best place, had to walk out for 7hrs, but I had everything replaced coil and the two moduals, the guys who did it for me said the other one want befar behind it giving up the ghost that is, so just do both.
Thermal Grease aids in the disipation of heat by drawing it away from the module. Same as on your computer where you have a very thin layer of Thermal grease (Silver Grease) between you heat sink and your processor.
Any good parts store should be able to assist or failing that hit your local computer outlet
Nuttin wrong with the MSD gear mine has seen its fair share of work and hasent missed a beat tho my heart did when it zapped me ....
As for the amplifier beta off with the early rangie one as the amp is mounted with the coil and dosent suffer the heating probs and can be sealed up beta to avoid water ....
Beta still **** can the L/R set up for a crane optical set up as they are more reliable and probably cheaper than the L/R gear i have the crane fireball 3000 set up fitted to an old points dizzy and its the ducks guts ...
