spark problems again for the disco1v8? ?HELP!!!

WELL IVE JUST ABOUT HAD IT WITH THIS CAR

i baught it only 6 weeks ago and had a few problems( rear mail seal, overheating problems, spark problems etc etc

last week i had a stuffed coil so that has now been replaced
now this week it was great.... until today

just driving along and it stalls and wont start again wait 10 mins and away you go

    this happened a few times,

its got fuel, fuel pumps working i know for sure

    coil should be working.

what i want to know is what runs the coil, if u know what i mean..... do d1 have a ignition module etc..

im stumped on what it coul be.

also for some reason the temp gauge isnt working...... wheres the sencor under the bonnet.. all help appreciated.

as i said b4 its getting to me being unreliable and i would hate to get rid of it.........

I am thinking it may be the ignition module on the side of the dissy, it has a heat sink behind (between it and the body of the distributor), if this is overheating because of poor contact with heat sink or no Thermo grease, it may be the root of your troubles. Remove it, clean the surfaces and reapply thermo grease and reinstall and see what happens, if you have a spare ignition module to put on, remember the thermo grease, Regards Frank.

IMHO ..... All the classic symptoms of the Ignition module failing

They work for ages then stop ... wait 5mins ... works
Then it starts to cut out quicker & at shorter intervals untill it just dies

Glenn .... Don't get mad .... It just wants a good going over that's all

if the above is true then fit a real coil and an ignition module
playing an american ****** doesn't work with a land rover.
fix it the way it was built.

its got new rotor button, was replaced with the coil.

i put a msd coil in it #8222. no one in brisbane could replace a bosch coil with the original part number, somthing like they are only made for landrover.

so a LR dealer quoted nearly $400 just for a coil and it had to come from UK......

i thought a msd coil would be great.

car was running good with that coil. just not now with aparent ignition mudule,,

Thermolytic grease just aids in the dispersal of heat, simply regreasing is likely not to help

Which temp Sensor? one for the gauge?, one for the thermo fans? or one for the ECU?

the temp gauge has just starting to read bellow 0...

i spoke to a mech today and he told me to pour some cold water on ignition module to cool it so i did. got the car home but temp gauge is reading cold only( needle doesnt move)
