A couple of questions about the drag link....

A two parter question, but first a bit of background........

I am doing a power steering conversion on my series 3 lightweight ( yep, piccies and a project post will be coming ) and have got to the point where I need to connect the PS box to the wheels!

After a lot of thought and some wasted $$$ I have decided to use the defender pitman arm and drag link end and then connect to the series drag link end at the LH wheel.

    Question 1.

Does anyone know if the defender drag link end will fit into a series drag link?

I am assuming not, as the sizes of the ball joints are radically different as far as I can recall but not having one nearby, don;t know for sure.

    So assuming not...

    Question 2.

I will have to get a new conversion drag link made up, drilled and tapped at either end to receive the appropriate ends....

What material should I specify? I am assuming mild steel bar is not strong enough!!! Hardened steel? Nothing too hard to get please, no adamantium suggestions....

    Thanks guys and gals!

I looked at this years ago for my Stage 1.
The best performing setup is to graft over a Rangie setup.
Its in a LRO magazine article from July 1998.
I can scan & paste it here ( over 10 years- no copyright??)
    Let us know.
