maybe.. cant have to much power

I am considering designing and getting an equal length tubular manifold made up for my TD5.
If I designed one, would there be any interest?
Also does anyone have an old std td5 manifold available that I could have / borrow?
If I did look at getting them made, turbo flanges could be custom to peoples requirements if they wanted upgrades (VNT etc) I think as lasering them out would be pretty easy.

Hey!
I have a useless/irrepairable/ unusable manifold that is just sitting there with your name on it Pete, just let me have a postal address
Better you got it than the scrap bin I say!
On the manufacturing side, try and keep the pipes as short as possible, IE you want the turbo inlet as close as practical to the exhaust ports basically, and ceramic coating etc will also help performance from lower heat losses, so would be adviseable. I shelved that idea ages ago due to time constraints, thats why I kept that manifold.(It's been under the bench for 12months now) At least If I get it to you, it might then get done!
(Edit:seems like my comments about turbos are redundant Pete, I read your post in 'remote turbos' and realised you know all this already!)

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
Are you designing the manifold to incorporate pulse convertor techniques?
I plan to make a tubular manifold to use the 2 stage turbo that I have for my Isuzu engine and that is the main reason why I would do it, but then 5 cylinder engines are not as badly affected as 4's.
You're right there John. The Audi quattro turbos used in IMSA in the '80's were putting out some serious HP, 480 odd from what I remember and would rev very hard. There is some merit in 5 cylinder engines, the gas pulses and inherent 'balancing' qualities of an odd number of cylinders inline seems to show up some of the bigger, more 'conventional' designs of engines.

Hi All,
Apart from the flange to fit the turbo of your choice, what is the advantage of this over a standard manifold on a turbo motor?
Thanks
Tony
Hi John, (Bush65)
I spoke to Lara last week with regard to getting one of his. That one is now on Simon Buck's (Devon 4x4) 90 and he has another one.
It looks like getting one made locally will make more sense due to the woeful exchange rate, although straight from lara doesnt seem that unreasonable (he him self said making a one off was prohibitively expensive)

Hi Justin,
Cool, thanksI will pm you my home address. Let me know how much I owe you for postage.
Will be interesting to see if I can get one working.
One thing on the TD5 is that there is a load of space to get the manifold in.
With regard to John's and your comments about pulse convertor techniques in the design, I havent really looked into it too much yet.
So far I have just designed one in Solidworks to see how similar and short I could get the pipework.
Rgds
Pete.
John,
I would expect a quicker response, and more power.

Peter.
