Thread: Traction Control broke my front Diff (I think)

    I think that you'll find that even though the diff broke in the sand, the damage or weakening was done somewhere else at some other time. The sand and the ETC was probably just enough of a peak load to actually break it.

    Hmmm... I reckon tc would be far better for a diff than allowing a wheel to spin up and then be stopped abruptly. Tc stops the acceleration of a wheel with low traction.

    I agree totally. I've done lots of sand driving and you only see the tc come on very occasionally.

    Agree. I had to learn how to drive ETCed Defender, a bit of different compare to earlier model

    TC can't be on all the time, it gets overheated and goes off in my experience in about 2 minutes constant work, you see it when TC orange light starts blinking. In your case if its still running, i'd think something wrong with ETC system. Do you have a Nanocom, have you checked errors log?
