99 Disco Tdi engine keeps cutting out

Heelp, this is a tricky problem, My engine cuts out usually when I'm pulling off from a stop or when I'm slowing down to turn, I haven't noticed any loss of power when I'm cruising along. When it cuts out it wont restart untill I bleed the system a few times, so I cleaned out the sediment bowl, blew out the fuel lines and replaced the fuel filter, still the same problem so I checked the fuel cutoff solenoid, I carried a lead and the next time it cut out I connected direct from battery to solenoid, It started first time without bleeding, reconnected the system wiring and it started first time. so the next time it cutout I checked the current between the connector and the solenoid,No current. What next? is it a fuel problem or an electrical problem. Please Help

Davie, do you have a twin button remote alarm/ central door lock? The factory one? If so, I would suspect the immobiliser'spider' . Have a search on the forum, type in 'Disco1 alarm spider' There is plenty of info here.

    Hi Davie,

I had a similar problem with mine and it was always at the most inconvenient times (Maccas drive through window etc)

Tried everything bar putting a match under it before I came across the following post

The Definitive Alarm Spider Post - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum

Put the bridging plug in (cost $25) and never a problem since.

thanks a lot fella's you saved me big bucks if I had taken my Disco to an Auto Electrician. The Spider was the problem, all fixed now. when I finaly got to the circuit board my first thought was, Oh no all this work for nothing, the board looked fine, then I had another look using a magnifying glass and then I could see the cracks in the solder. any way thanks again
