Turbo 300 tdi discovery knackered ??
I have feeling my tubo is about to die, Lack of power and surges at full revs and now noticing a puff of blue/white smoke when it starts to surge and lose power.
Have just rebuilt engine so it shouldnt be the rings. The problem suddenly started, all the turbo hoses are fine. Am i correct in suspecting the turbo ??

Is it noisy?
When they are about to throw metal bits through the engine they whine like a sick cat for a while as it wears away impeller fins on the housing.
I would be inclined to think it may possibly be an incorrectly fitted something, maybe head gasket, did you fit a steel shim type casket or the other normal type head gasket?
Are you absolutely sure the 90 deg hose at the back isn't de-laminating as it sounds very much like the symptoms?

Have just replaced all the hoses, and I used a steel shim gasket. It is a bit noisey ( like dry bearing/ sucking air type noise ).
