    defender sliding windows

After getting the wrong sized bailey channel to fix my rattly window,I tracked down the wholesaler and got the code for the correct stuff. You can get it from them by calling in or by phone order /mailout. Also you can order it through any Clarke rubber store. The clarke bloke at castle hill (sydney), says he will also stock it. The code is ; 350.360 flocked bailey channel .The company; Spectrum

    Ph (02)96235333
    Fx(02)98331041
They also have a website ,but it's currently under repair or construction or something.
You,ll need 4 metres to get right around both sliding panes of each window you tackle. This makes for a VERY snug fit. I ripped out both the upper and lower felt from my window even though the upper stuff was not in such a bad state, and perhaps there's a case for leaving the top felt in place and only replacing the bottom piece where all the crud and wear occurs. this option might result in an easier sliding finished job, and only use half the material. BTW the 4 meters I got cost about $29.00 Don

I did mine last week it's a job worth doing. Some peace and quiet at last. Now I just have to find the right sized bailey channel for the kids on long trips.

Sliding Window Channels by Garrison Outfitters

I just installed the Garrison Outfitters sliding windows channel kit into my 24 year old Defender.

Brilliant instructions backed by YouTube clips - and now the vehicle is unbelievably rattle free. Idiot proof - I just proved it.

I need to do something with the Rear window on the 130.... it needs a lot of help - new bailey channel stuff and a new lock (which I have somewhere).
Just not sure whats involved in the job.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I opted out of the sliding window and had O'briens fit a single tinted piece to the frame.

The job in either case is straight forward drilling pop rivets out from the inside and the whole frame comes out.
2 screws either side on the frame need to be removed and the frame separates for seal and glass replacement/change.

..and i just remembered i need to get you some seat install pics. Do you still need them?

Yes please the seat instal pics would be very handy I'll PM you my email address.

As for the window I do want to keep it as a slider (though I've no idea why, I just think I'll end up regretting it if I don't). I would just need to know what type and length of felt / strips/ bailey channel etc are required for the job.

The information on the type and length of bailey channel is contained within the first post.
Spectrum rubber, however, no longer exists. This mob now seems to have the Spectrum catalogue. You'll find the channel on page 25 of this catalogue, but is only listed as being available in 30 metre rolls.
Scotts also have the same catalogue. The correct section is found under "Glass", second to last line...page 25
    Don.
