TD5 turbo wast gate

My BD chipped TD5 D2 did exactly what yours is doing and it turned out to be the chip. I am on my 3rd BD chip now which is the detuned version producing less power but making the car drive a bit smoother. I'm 100% convinced this chip still gives me issues as I have tested a several occasions running a standard ecu back in the car and this always sorts the problems out. I have changed virtually every sensor on the car, removed the EGR, checked waste gate, replaced turbo pipes, fitted an EGT and boost gauge to keep an eye on what was happening etc etc and every now and again, my car just drives "flat". ECU Loom is fine, in fact the car is near new given all the work it has had done recently including head gasket, exhaust minifiold to name some of the big ones.

My advice is check all the waste gate, ecu loom, MAF, turbo pipes etc etc first then if you can, fit a factory ECU for a week or so so you can drive it and see if the problems presist.

Unfortunatly my car is a '99 so is non flashable otherwise Tombie would have been let loose on my chip a long time ago.

I love the way these mobs sell this stuff but when it does not work right it cost us more money to fix there problem I cleaned every plug I could find and things are working better apart from all the oil that the new loom in the head was sposed to fix.

it may have been new old stock? the upgrade looms arnt supposed to suffer this problem.

Replacing the injector loom is only part of the solution. This will stop the oil in the injector loom but there will still be oil in the main harnes through to the ECU plug. You will need to flush the main harnes from the plug on the head through to the ECU. A temp fix is to disconnect the plug at the ECU and wipe away all oil and use a contact cleaner (non plastic destructive) or metho to clean. This may solve the problem for a day or so, but oil will run along the wiring stile in a capillary action. Look at the link supplied in another post and that will instruct you how to do so. I set mine up overnight in a plastic bottle and let it run through over 8 or so hours into a cup in under the ecu plug.
When you do your servicing it is a good idea to check the connector plug outside the head for oil as this may allow you to detect any issue before it gets to the ECU plug.
What occurs is the oil in the plug floods the pins and can cause electrical disruption to signals sent. The oil in the harness is the catalyst for the oil to get to the plug and cause this disruption. Dont fear as the oil can not get into the ECU itself as the plug is sealed.

Like Craig says, I just replace the AMR6103 injector harness and get the vehicle back in a few weeks or so to reclean and don't really have problems after that. Everynow and then I'll have one do it again in a month or so, but after that plug cleaning it is OK.
Everytime I remove the plugs to clean them there is less oil so the upgraded loom must be working:)
The only other alternative is replace the whole harness, a costly affair!

Yes the BD chip is hit and miss, i had the biggest BD chip in mine originally and while the power was bloody amazing:o the smoke and the sudden snap of power was a Pain In The bloody ****:twisted:

The only way to solve this is the buy a plug in power up device (ie) Tunit, Unichip and so on, but they are $1500 +:twisted:

I have the medium BD chip now and it's not bad, i also just purchased a bigger intercooler and will install it soon, plus a 3" exhaust and hopefully i'll have the big power i had with the largest BD chip.
