    Clutch slip, 300TDI and R380?

    Hi folks,
Have had a few gearbox issues as well as clutch slip, so pulled the poor thing to bits to fix it all.
The clutch was slipping (in a 2.0 tonne car, no other weight and used to stop accelerating the second I felt it flare) accelerating on hills. No trailer, no weight other than the car. Pull the clutch out and it looks new.......
So the pressure plate wasn't clamping. But it doesn't look that old either. I have no method of testing clamping pressure but I've not seen one fail like that before.

Which leads me to think the clutch throw out lever is under constant load. As this car is made out of little bits of god knows what from god knows where, I'm thinking some twit has put some wrong parts in.

So, does anyone know if the clutch slave pushrod is supposed to be a certain length? Or what part number it is? Thought I'd ask before I started bolting all the bits back together. The slave pushrod is a bugger to get at with the box back on.......

    Thanks!

Haven't seen or taken a L/R clutch system apart ... but based on other vehicles I have done are my thoughts on the problem

If the thrust bearing was in hard contact at all times ... then you would see the groove of it carved into the "fingers" of the pressure plate

Take the pressure plate to a clutch rebuild shop and get it tested for it's spring weight (Open the Yellow pages / phone book) ...as it may appear fine .. but it is most probably shot // Mostly when they are gone, the fingers are at different heights and appear distorted ... But ... I have seen the position of the "fingers" look OK

So I would test it ... Regardless ... AS it is a big job to redo it all over again

Also ... replace the other consumables // Thrust bearing // fork // etc

    Sorry, should have mentioned....

The whole lot's being replaced with a new 'extreme offroad' heavy duty kit from SA.

I just don't want that one to not work.......
