What about the GM 4.7HO engine from the Jeeps? Or the 5.7 Hemi?

I assume gearbox adapters are the issue?

And you can't use the Jeep box and transfer because the front prop-shaft output is on the wrong side (LHS not RHS)?

I'm "between" Landies and driving a Jeep GC Overland with the 4.7HO motor, and I must say, I can't think I've driven anything nicer.

Not a vehicle I'd take into rough African or Aussie bush, but I've done the Lesotho highlands in it, and it was extremely good off road.

Now THAT motor in a Deefer 110 SW would just about cause me to have some type of indecent physical manifestation......

I have a turbo 700 with only a couple of hundred kays on it from rebuild sitting in the shed. Has a shaft that I had mated to a LT95 Tbox.

Would it be worth the effort or is it a cheaper route to do a chev conversion or something similar??? I want lots of torque not interested in mega HP if i wanted that i would build a drag car. I want something that if i get stopped for a hello by the boys in blue then its not going to make them go uh huh got ya everytime

I'm only working on he basis of keeping it bolt in, easy to wire. It's only what you asked about but with a better original block setup.
