I know when the vacuum pump on mine packed up coming into Cooma for the 60th, braking was almost non existent. I certainly wouldn't have liked to get into traffic with it that way.

    And a world record

There are a few city driven ranges that dont get 40k out of a set of pads AND rotors.Apparently,to get real good brakes you have to have soft pads & soft rotors, but pay the price regularly.

My TD5 auto discos have always done around 70k before needing a set of pads all round

try coming into a corner at a silly speed, step hard on the brakes and pop...... booster fails and you're running out of road fast :-D

G'day Derek, welcome to the forum mate. I also hailed from Airlie untill a couple of years ago, Stathdickie to be specific (that horribly steep 'highway to heaven' road).

I don't want to here any winging from you guys untill you own a LWB Series Rover which is unboosted - you have to pull youtself towards the wheel to pull the thing up...

Saying that I only recently had to replace the booster in my Kingswood for the same problem, leaky diaphram. You would switch the car off and come back 5 minutes later to find all the vaccum at leaked out of the booster. $300+ and that was for an exchange deal...

    G'day lamb,

Bought the county Nov last year after seeing it for sale on the side of the road in Jubilee Pocket. Had an '03 Triton dual cab which I couldn't complain about, but on seeing the 110 I didn't have to think too hard about getting rid of the Mitsi. Love the landy mate. 8 years in the army and having these things in all sorts of situations was my Land Rover apprenticeship. Been using Land Rover Spares, they are very good, however they hadn't had to sort a booster for a county for while and British Off Road sorted it out v quickly for me. $400 delivered for a newy.

Newbs, I know that road, bloody steep allright, looked at a block at the very end earlier this year. Didn't end up getting it but I do like that area (quiet).

Not too sure bout getting by without the booster.. It's fine for normal day to day but with the truck loaded with tools I wouldn't like to have to pull up in a hurry without it.

    Derek

Both. Have replaced the rear brake linings in that time though.
