you should be able to get an early rover 3.5 v8 in there pushing the early c4 auto and mod the tcase and auto output shaft so they like each other. the lt77 should be a workable option as well.
wouldnt want to do it without a sals in the rear and Id probabley want to mod a 6 gear front diff to run the series gearing.
Just stick the 250 in and turbo it already;)
Blknight, really don't want an auto. That's the only drawback, and for the price of a Rover V8, it's not much more to go to a Lexus.
Rovercare - What are the 250's like? I believe the engine is a counterflow and that straight away goes against my better judgement hahaa. But the thought had crossed my mind I won't lie. :D
Just on the series box strength,I had a 192 holden six with yella terra head,twin stromy's,an unknown cam,a mate had a 265 hemi and a third had a stock 250 crossflow and we didn't stuff a box.I had mine for three years but sold it as I wanted a LR not a holden.All of them were 2A's. Pat

250's be it pre crossflow or crossflow are solid, undersquare things that go fantastically with boost, very simple to do, with a J pipe of the original manifold......as a matter of fact their is a turbo 250 in the shed:D

Ahh, that makes sense, just nobody ever referes to .............a counterflow head as a counterflow head:p
Crossflow is definately better, merely for the sake of the head and is the same effectively in regards to the bottom end and bolt patterns etc
3.2 3.9 4.0 Overhead cams are different though............would also be much better again, but why not utilise what you have?

Rovercare - that's fine, it's just what I have elways referred to them as. I don't have any engine right now, but is setup for 4.1 bellhousing. So crossflow is better, that is XD Falcon is it?
Slunnie - Ah yes so LC is a better option again..... hmmmm harder to find though.
