cant speak with any authority on the 3.9's, but i know with the windsors in falcons, they use the coolant to keep the EGR section of the intake manifold cool.....
Any advantage in removing the plenum heater pipes on a 3.9?
They appear to be for heating the inlet air, ok for the UK but not really needed for Oz. In fact I was always under the impression that the colder the inlet charge was the better for torque.
Is it just a matter of disconnecting the pipes and blocking them off? Any likely adverse effects on the injection system?

I pointed out to this guy a long time ago that he was wrong on both the voltage feed to the O2 sensors (it is 12volts from the fuel relay not 5 volts from the ECU) and that the Titania sensors do not read in the opposite direction to Zirconia sensors, they also go from 1volt (rich) to 0 volt lean.
He chose to ignore me, however the rest of the article is good AFAIK.

I have had mine bypassed for some time now and I havent noticed any difference. As a heater in Oz weather it probably doesnt make a whole difference, but winter in JCville may be another thing.
All the temp sensing is done in the MAF for air temp into the engine.
My reasoning for disconnecting was one it was leaking and two it could result in a slightly colder charge.
I know I fixed one problem...!
