    Paint or Powdercoat?

    Gday

    I happen to have a spare ARB Bullbar to suit a Defender

    Before I sell it unfortunately I need to get it repainted or powdercoated. The reason being, the previous owner hand painted it before he sold me the car. Which means the paint is now flaking off

    So the question is paint or powdercoat?

    If you have a pwder coater in your area pwder coat. Otherwise use a good marine based undercoat with hardener and a marine colour coat with hardener and maybe a clear coat. It would be cheaper and less labour intensive to powdercoat. Find a powder coater that can blast the bar first.
    I need to get my bar done and some RR wheels, but the closest powder coater is 400kms away.
    It amazes me no one has set up in Esperance, one on the coast would do well down here I reckon.

    I differ id paint as it,s easier to touch up
    Have you ever seen powdercoating that has been scratched and rust gets under the powdercoating the result is the powdercoat flakes off and looks unsightly

    A few moons ago i managed a powder coating Plant. Apart from the different types of powder ( hard soft etc) and the prep work required. (sand blasting + minim of 7 dip Tanks. Its some thing I would never have done on any of my cars. chipping and powder coating is not so good in the weather ( regardless of claims)
