It would just be a case of 8? body bolts to undo & then lift the body to swap.
The clincher would be the electrics + hoses & cables coming out of the fire wall .... They should all come out with the body, as they are not attached to the chassie .... The body could be lifted up, via a length of wood through the rear doors & another length through the front doors with 2 sets of block & tackle, to lift the body up & roll the chassie out / slip the new (donor) one in

Guess it's time for some input, via others, that have done a body swap / removal

    10 bolts

plus 4 seat belt thingy's, wiring etc....

Hard to say, as funnily enough the 90 is a bit of a different creature to the 89

Maybe I should take some time off and come for a visit

I've dug up the old Rangie thread http://www.aulro.com/afvb/range-rove...lown-away.html So we may be able to this discussion away from this thread as I have Hijacked it enough I seem to think

    Cheers Tony

Ha Ha and you are right again. I've noticed a few small things and will be in for a few suprises as well right.

Time to stock the fridge and fire up a large out door heater

Yea, I wouldn;t expect to much work except for feeding the fire and emptying the fridge

    head gasket hopefully ...

hi there, im hoping to fix up my 91 d1 v8 on lpg as a fun offroad bus.

it blows steam and water dribbles out the exhaust and you get tiny bubles coming to the surface of the header tank reserve. (it hasnt been cooked either)

id read you can inspect the plugs as a way of looking into this and apparently that if your 'steam cleaned' plug is near the rear its likely a head gasket.

mine (if it is) would be front left , as pictured below.

does this sound right ?? or could any of them be 'steam cleaned' and it still be a head gasket ?

also will a compression test reveal anything ? (the sort with gauge on end of pipe you screw into spark socket.)

    thanks in advance.

There are waterways at both ends of both heads, so a head gasket leak could be from any end cylinder and leak water into the exhaust etc.

Lets hope that is what it is, as the alternative is the block has slipped a liner.

    Head Gasket Shots

So i got the left head off this morning after removing everything else i had to yesterday.

Looks promising, as there's definitely something going on with the the area next to front #1 that had the steam cleaned spark plug.

And all the liners look fine.

head and block photos in next post.

so now im thinking about whether i should get work done on the head/valves while its off... ?

just got some prices on machine work here in adelaide at cylinder head specialists. (all prices for a pair)

    $440 - valves / pressure test / face
    $250 - pressure test / face
    $125 - face

any recommendations or comments on how much work i should get done on it ??

keeping in mind this is car has been replaced allready, and im just fixing it up for some offroad fun (the type the missus won't let me take the 'new' d2 on)
