    Coolant for 3.9 V8

My coolant is well over 2 years old.

So one of my jobs over Christmas is to replace the coolant.

What brand of coolant is recommended?

    Thanks

I use Nulon Long Life at 50% with demineralised water every 2 years.
My radcore is 9 years old with no leaks, and cools perfectly.

I use Castrol Radi-cool, change every 12 months. It's filtered with a Tefba fitted into the top hose which is cleaned out periodically. Thermostat is changed every three years for a new one. Still got original 95 radiator which is taken out and cleaned out (rodded) after removing the tanks every 5 years.

With the bigger bore motors you can't be too careful with cooling. They'll only tolerate a limited number of major overheats and its cracked block time. See Des Hammill's excellent chapter on RV8 blocks for why this happens.

Redline Water Wetter. One does the job but I like to use two being aluminium.

Either that genuine Toyota coolant. Best stuff bar none but oh so expensive!
