I think the transfer case is the same, but the ratios are not the same. Some people have swapped out the transfer case from their disco for a defender unit as they have lower ratios and can offset the effect of larger tyres. Only works in low range though. The defender case should have a diff lock and it should bolt up to the disco.
Why would you do it though? If you have damaged your disco one you could put in a defender unit. If you just want better ratios you might find it cheaper to just change your CW&P gearing to 4.11 which would improve driveability in high range and low range.
You could do both the defender transfer case and the 4.11's and your final ratio in low range would be great! Could cost you about $5k though!!
