    Easyer way than that

On my winch challenge 90 i had a switch on the dash for the front winch and the rear winch.
What you need is a rocker switch. I used to use a electric window switch from a Disco S1, or toggle for a defender as the old choke hole under the steering wheel makes a great place for it . Then wire it up with wire to the winch solinds same as the original warn one is. This way you have a perminate control in the car and can still use the warn cable that comes with the winch on the outside. Easy cheap cost about $20.

Alot cheaper than a remote and after all you want it so you can drive and control the winch at the same time

Its pretty easy to do, but if you have a later Warn winch (5 pin connector) it is a bit easier if you fit one of the Albright type solenoids rather than try and do it with the std Warn ones. The earlier Warns, and most of the cheaper winches only have 3 pin connectors and these are prety easy to wire up

I have internal and external switches for both my winches, and we recently did MickG's Disco 2 to have internal switches, and the external wired wander lead.

i could probably scan the wiring diagrams I have if youre interested..?

    Hey awesome .. thanks guys...

Wasn't as silly question as I thought it might be ;-)

One more job to add to the list of electricals over the next month or so.

I think I'll head down the budget path at this stage.. now to find the best location .

    Hi Mark,

    No worries.

Just to let you know, the diagrams I have are for the albright (titan) solenoid options (which have 3 wires) but hopefully they should be of some help.

I will try and get them done uploaded tonight but it may not be till Boxing Day.

I would recommend using a Warn remote controller if you have a 5-pin solinoid pack. If you use one of the others you'll convert back to 3-pin and it is not tamper resistant like the 5-pin... thats why Warn went that way. Even if you change to the Albrights you are still going to 3-pin control. If you have a 3-pin setup, then a controller from Tigerz11 or whatever will do the trick.
    Cheers
