I spent a few hours yesterday washing off half of Fraser Island from inside, underneath and around the engine bay of my '95 Disco 300tdi.
Whilst cleaning I discovered a small, broken, black length of rubber(?) pipe about 150mm long that comes from a fitting (t-piece) attached to the turbo just after the elbow is clamped on to the pipe that goes to the bottom of the intercooler.
It seems integral with the t-piece and heads back towards the block. The other pipe goes towards the bulkhead/firewall.
I could not ID it using rave so... What does it do?, Should I drive without it?, What is it called?, how do I fix it?.
I have include a picture as I feel my description may have been a little cryptic.
Fix it before driving the vehicle as it sends boost pressure to the wastegate so it can regulate turbo boost.
The other section of tubing goes to the boost compensator on the injector pump.
Without it connected the turbo will overboost the engine and you'll blow the head gasket.
