help. my brand new weber 34 ich makes 76 mod my series 3 lurch badly on acceleration & restarting hot engine on a hot day impossible.i bought it to replace faithful old zenith that leaked air at spindle.has anyone experienced and solved this problem.larger jets?![]()
I have tried a 34 ICH on a 2.25P.
Its a nice simple carby but unfortunately I couldnt get it running right and gave up on it. It idled well but was well down on power compared to the Solex.
I think the solution is correct jetting - my feeling was the main jet was way too small. I believe there is a Weber specialist in Brisbane who can assist - I never got around to pursuing this. I was given the carb and so my motivation to make it work was less than it would have been if I'd paid for it.
A single barrel holden stromberg carby with adjustable main jet worked the best for me. Along with a set of extractors and a new Ducellier distributer to replace the old worn out Lucas one, my 2A could sit on 110 easily and had respectable acceleration.
You know that you can buy brand new Zeniths in UK fo about GBP70. Look in LRO.
AFAIR from reading UK mags , the Weber has a smaller throat than the Zenith so you lose performance a such as it is.

thanks for your help guys.i have already spent the $350 so i am commited.research suggests jets. the weber website says the jets supplied are a starting point for each model but invariably fine tuning is necessary.i will get to the bottom of this and post details.ps what a great community landy people are.
You may need to change the emulsion tube and try different jets + Air corrector jets to get it 100%.
I asume you have a 34 ICH? I've never played with one so don't know how interchangeable bits are. If any thing like the DGV or DCOE I have had in the past they are very tunable.

thank you for your help . first job is to replace old lucas dizzy with brand new ducellier then talk to the landy spares company that sold me the carby to find out if they have any more info. finally get professional advice from weber carby co in east bris. reminds me of a book i read a long time ago. zen and the art of motorcycle ( landrover) maintenance.
i have double checked set up steps ie inlet manifold leaks, dizzy, (needs attention) idle mixture setting at normal operating temp. new plugs, points cap &leads.previously she ran ok just a dead spot on acceleration, due to leaky zenith spindle.after fine tuneing today i seem to have narrowed it down starving at 3/4 to full throttle while under load,if i back off a little on throttle carby catches up.but the first couple of kms after i stop then restart, vapour lock?or what. i just make sure im in the slow lane to avoid stalling on the m1. good way to start a bit of carpark rage at bunnings carpark on a hot day though. most people look at you & the old landy with an understanding smile. do you need a push? any input greatly appreciated. neil
yes i do have a spare coil but no ballast resistor fitted
I bought a weber 15 years ago and it was a complete flop.I could not get the engine to run on it and it always felt like the handbrake was on.You are letting less air into a motor that needs all it can get. Pat
