    handbrake drum screw missing

Afternoon, I am just putting my rangie back together after the rear diff pin let go yesterday. Have put the replacement diff centre back in, then noticed that one of the two contersunk screws in the back of the handbrake drum is missing - what do these screws hold together - I don't know if they were both there when the drive shaft was taken out yesterday or if one fell out on the way home.

Question is - what will happen if I don't replace it? Repco don't have one so will have to wait until during the week when I can get to a nut and bolt shop - its a M8 x 1.25

At the least the centre went back in reasonably easily.

dont stress i lost the one from the disco ages ago and just put it back together without it. Then 6 months later i found it on the drive way so now its back in again. But as far as i know, not sure if the rangie is different to the disco but they just hold the park brake drum on till the tail shaft holds it tight. Matt

    I agree with Matt (Ace).

The uni coupling will hold it in place.

its purpose in life is to retain the brake drum so that while laying under the vehicle and removing the propshaft you dont wind up wearing the brake drum.

not required for daily use but nice to have.
