The holden V6 uses the GM corporate fwd small bellhousing pattern so is completely different to the rover which uses a pre 1964 buick/olds/pontiac bellhousing pattern. I have 2 x Buick V6's which use the 64 up BOP pattern which is unique again but close to a SBC. You would need to use the T700 with the V6 and a marks T700 to LT230 adapter to make it fit.
This is a buick V6 with toyota 5spd attached using a multifit housing, SBC holes are the ones not used.

Engine Conversion summary.

1. Looking for a bit more Grunt.
2. Fuel Injected.
3. $1,000 to $1,500 budget.
4. Powerful.
5. fairly ecconomical.

Not asking for much!

A "Marks Adapter" would cost more than your total budget at 3.
The ECU from most cars even from a wrecker can be more than your total budget.

Engineers certificate required at end of project. $250 - $500. Balance left to conduct project $1,000 - $1,250. I paid more than that on my last major service.

What gearbox are you running?

Cam and lifters are within you budget provided it isnt completely stuffed it will surprise you

If your going to do the cam and lifters, do yourself a favour whilst you got the front of the engine striped down and change the timing chain and sprockets. Over time the chain stretches altering the timing.

The timing chain and sprockets is or should be part of the cam and lifter job.
Dont use the standard crap gears and chain use an aftermarket quality duplex chain and steel sprockets

When GM-H introduced the VN with the Buick V6 they planned to only build manual transmission cars against dealer order, not for stock. They estimated that 95% of production would be auto. transmissions. Np doubt the power curve was tailored to this end. With an auto box they have impesssive low speed performance.

They have such a ****y little flywheel i'm not suprised as a manual they would be a slug, my Buick V6 has a full sized V8 flywheel - the holden (FWD pattern )version is about the same size as a 186 flywheel.
