check your front drive shaft uni mine had those symtoms before it let go 2 weeks later
When towing my caravan home today I noticed a shudder in my 1999 v8 series 2 Discovery which seemed more pronounced when backing off down hills and disappeared when the clutch was disengaged so I am thinking clutch and or pressure plate. After taking off the van and driving the vehicle, the shudder was still there but not as noticeable. The vehicle has 210,000 on the clock but I have honly done 100,000 in it and it hasn't towed our van very far at all. Any ideas whether my suspicion might be right and dare I ask whether anyone has a clue as to the cost of this repair if it is needed? Thanks.

I would expect clutch shudder to be associatted with the initial engagement of the clutch as you release the pedal.
I too suspect as above that a universal or donut might be causing your observations.
And Im guessing the issue SHOULD have been fixed by know
