D1 Fan Control Switch
Hi All,
Hopefully this is the correct place for this......
I have a pre-update D1 (92) and the aircon stopped working a couple of months ago. I pulled the dash apart and and found the Fan Control Switch was completely burnt out (I'm talking fall apart in a heap of broken, melted pieces). I sourced a s/h replacement unit that appears in good order and controls the fan and aircon perfectly at all speeds. The question i have is should this switch get hot? I know LR are great at running full amps through the switches, instead of relays etc, so i initially thought a bit of heat may be normal, but it is getting pretty hot (can still hold it in your hand but probably only just) Could something else be causing additional draw through the system creating extra heat? (which could explain the original burnt out switch). I am not keen on putting the dash back together until i am comfortable it is normal.
Thoughts?
