I have taken the old tyres before but I never got a discount for that. We do use them for jumps and stuff the only problem is snakes tend to like the nice warm tyre to hide in. I got bitten by a dugite in Sept prefer not to have to go through that again.

So which is better these tyres or the Kumhos?
the internets not playing nice tonight, according to the dunlop home page they dont make the breed of tyre your describing.
and the kuhmos arent much better having about 6 types that match the description..
The maxxis home page is more helpful and the description provided on a few different sites matches about what I'd want it to be for the use you've explained your planning on putting it to.
They also have some good reviews and some deeper searching reveals some complaints about them but its my opinion that the people who were complaining about them were expecting too much from the tyre and shouldnt have been skimping on the $$ to get what they want.
assuming all the ply ratings, load ratings and speed ratings meet your requirements or are at least the same, out of the ones youve got selected you can literally go with "I like the look of that tyre more" and be right on for the money.

The guy from Bob Jane was like oh Kuhmos are crap but don't get why?
For someone like me is brand really such a big deal? I don't do anything major other than tow and I drive very slowly when I tow. I don't really go of road much unless the gravel drive or turning in the horse paddock counts?

the ply rating tells you how tough the tyre is, more is better for load rating, resistance to damage from staking and pinching Steel is stronger than the new synthetics stuff BUT the new synthetics run cooler and smoother than the old steel stuff, they are also easier to work with. you have tread plies and side plies to worry about, more is stronger less is more flexable. and as a given more is heavier and heavier is harder to balance.
The speed rating is just how fast the tyre is designed to go at a nominated load
These days youd be very hard pressed to find a tyre in the size you want in the class your aiming at that doesnt meet the standards you need.
The last thing to check is the tread depth, sure your $200 tyre might have 10mm of tread depth but the $210 might have 15 and providing all else is equal and the pattern is about the same the $10 dearer tyre is the better option.
if someone especially a salesman says :"oh thats crap" ask why
given that your existing tyres have lasted as long as they have Im kinda inclined to believe that I could just about put the beat up tyres that came on fozzy onto your disco and theyd do you for a couple of years. if you keep the pressures right more than likely you'll hit the designed age limit of the tyres long before even the cheapest set of rubber ever made gave out.

I did ask why the Kuhmos weren't good and I think he said they don't last? I figured it was sales talk you know my brand is better than his kind of thing.
