87 range rover from tacho to coil?

Hi all can anyone tell me if i can convert a 87 range rover tacho from alternator to coil as it has a after market alternator on it and it doesn't have a facility for the alternator, any info would be a help. Cheers

It's very simple to add the W terminal from the alternator.

However, if the pulley size, or number of poles, differs from the original alternator, the tacho will be inaccurate.

thanks, yeah the alternator looks to be a 55A Bosch Holden one but the pulley might be the one off the rangie alternator as it looks a little different to a regular Holden one.....so i might have to go see the auto sparky and see what he can do. Cheers
