Well, just got back from doing a road test and compared real life results with the RAVE suggested change speeds and guess what.......... They were close enough to exactly the same.

Leads me to think that the old auto was that buggered that when it was shifting LOTS earlier (ie about 2500 rpms), I thought this was normal, when in actual fact it was courtesy of the shot clutches allowing across the board slippage.

The only thing I have left to do is trial a load on the back and see what the effect the 3rd gear lockup has.

Thanks again for all your advice and help guys . Sometimes being a pseudo "home mechanic" creates too many questions where there don't deserve to be any . Then again I am an engineer by profession, so I tend to question and query things a lot .

    Cheers

Questions and querys are how we learn

My favourite saying was from my metal work teacher in high school:

    If you dont listen
    You dont learn
    You dont learn
    You dont know
    You dont know
Then ask before you stuff it up

Nothing wrong with questions as long as your willing to listen to the answers
