Can't find anything in RAVE about it!
Nothing that evenly remotely resembles a "B" with a line though it!
Any better description?
P.S. Is it Australian delivered or import?
My 2001 TD5 D2 has been grumpy lately. It has cost me a new fuel pump this week & now has me semi locked out & miles from home in Agnes Waters.
The problems are as follows. I have no indicators or central locking & next to the ODO where the gear selected should be indicated is a "B" with a diagonal line through it. When I put the key in the ignition & turn it the whole dashboard lights up & the chimes go 6 times. Then all the lights go off as usual but the crossed out "B" remains. I can drive the vehicle.
Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks

Check the battery is putting out at least 11.5V
If in doubt try a new battery, get at least a 900AH CCA battery though.
Also replace the battery in the key fob and try this.
Apart from the B with a slash through it (Sounds like D overlaid by R) this sounds very similar to what happened to me. I had to get Rovacom and clear the BCU before it would start. The flat battery and flat fob batteries are the first things to try though.

As mentioned above check the condition of your cranking battery, could also be an earthing problem, check the condition of your battery terminal lugs and the earth connection points to the chassis, rave will tell you where they are. My Disco had a problem where the clamp on the negative terminal was tight but was'nt actually clamping the terminal properly.
I just checked the Rave and owners hand book and I can't find anything like that in both books. (I have the Rave CD in paper form)
Maybe someone else can help with diagnostic gear that's nearby.
Baz.
Cheers Baz.

I would guess it means the BCU is not functioning correctly, the 6 chimes is probably also a good indication. This is what makes me think its a power problem. Checking the earth as mentioned would also be a good start.
In the owner's manual there is also mention of the warning for a poor battery, from memory the alarm arming light (red LED that blinks) will keep blinking rapidly or something. Check the owner's manual as I can't remember the exact information.

Thanks for all the ideas. It turns out to be a flat key fob battery. I'm....gobsmacked?? 1 little battery with such huge symptoms.

Geez that would be fun in the middle of no where.
Is there an over ride or anything to get it going if that did happen in the middle of no where?
