    P38 diff´s. Need them lower

Hi everybody, one new here at the forum.

I´m looking for R&P to lower the diffs on my P38. I know ashcroft have 4:10´s available, but i´m looking for some lower that that, prf around 4:70.

    Has anybody here found some?

    Those are Rover, not P38.

A member on here had some 4.1s for sale recently.

may i ask why you need such low gearing? would custom transfer gears be ok, because they would be cheaper to make.

I´ve already got the 4.1s. But they´re not enough.

You see, I´m about to start a project converting my P38 to 38"x15.50" on 15" x 14" rims (see pic below of similar project). 4:10´s is still too high.

"would custom transfer gears be ok" That sounds interresting, what do you have in mind? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Now you´re all wondering, "what the h*ll is he using those for". Well, you see, i´m writing this from Iceland, and here we use those big tyres to drive in deep snow, and to the top of glaciers.

Smaller tyres will lower the centers (closer to the ground)

Ahhh, perhaps look at running Hilux centres with 4.88+ into the Rover housings. If you add lockers then you can have them made by some manufacturers with Rover side gears to maintain the Rover axle halfshafts. Its generally hard enough to get P38 4.11's (as opposed to 4.1's).

Yep, the P38 has the diff pumpkins on the LHS, not the RHS - so the LT230 wont work.
