Would never fit F/W hubs even if I were to convert a full-time 4X4 to part-time 4X4. There are too many wear issues with static front prop-shafts and half shafts. There are a dozen threads on the issue in AuLRO.

I have seen in some 4x4 magazines that people are converting there 80 series from full time 4wd to part time 4x4 with a after market front hub lock like the older model cruiser had before they went full time 4x4, this has got me thinking whether it can be done to a RRC as i prefer this style of setup but have always had a thing for the sound of a landy v8 and the ride of a RRC, especially after a short trip in a mates 60 series cruser i couldnt wait to drive home in my RRC. Anyway back on subject has anyone had a play with these setups or know of people who have used them and what are they like

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
The rear diff alone can't handle the power of the V8, that's why the rangie is permanent 4WD in the first place. A Defender with a salisbury would be ok, but I can't see any reason for it myself.

the reason i was looking into it is the fact i drive 350 km a week to work (about 70 km a day return trip) so if i could drop my fuel consumption buy converting to part time 4wd i though it could be worth the outlay on the system
consider how much the conversion costs first, cant see it being cheaper than a thousand...... buys a LOT of fuel

it's somthing I have thought about to try and reduce drive line back lash most rovers have alot and eliminating the front diff and a center diff would be good you would think.
So how are you going to save fuel when all the parts that are spinning in Constant 4wd are still spinning in part time 4wd?.The 80 series are changed back to part time because all the running gear is designed for part time, they made them constant to match LR. Pat
Not worth it!
