    Hey Cam.
What i have seen as a common accurance in many vehicles that get used off road or in dirty conditions is that the solenoid on the starter motor gets dirty inside and gets sticky.A clean out/service of the solenoid should fix the problem. You will be amazed at how dirty it will be in there.

    Sorry, Baz.

By the way, TD5s have Bosch electrics not Lucus
Thanks for the offer (kinda haha) of help, I have a great group of 4wding friends around Sydney and we have a great "Help I need tow" hotline ahhaha but next time I am stuck you never know, some LR expertise would always be welcome

I will get the solenoid cleaned and connections checked asap!

I'd still get the ignition barrel and starter motor checked, good luck with it.
