Hmmm good point, me thinks I might just spend the time removing the heat exchanger than making extra blanks it'l probably take me less time. I can always refit it at a later date if needs be.

I have to say I'm glad I removed the EGR, my engine was so lacking in anything down low and seemed to take for ever to spool up the turbo. It seems a lot better now. When I pulled the EGR out it was pretty gunked up inside.

My next thing is to get a 3" dump pipe like yours with a vortex.

It's on the later model Td5's, mines a 2003, not sure when they started adding them, it's a thing on the front of the engine that the pipe to the egr from the exhaust goes through.

That would be the dirty thing that was dumping exhaust gas in to my nice almost clean inlet manifold that I threw away with the EGR when I fitted the blanking kit and EGR eliminator.
Mine is also a 2003, what did you you do with the two vacum lines that are attached to the EGR?
I just looped them together so there is no vacum leak.
So far the cars seems to run fine with no ill effects.

I must say that my exhaust emissions have cleaned right up since fitting the EGR elininator kit.
There used be a black cloud issue from the tail pipe that blotted out any following cars, now barely a wisper of smoke to be seen.
You have to wonder how something like that could be passed off as an aid in reducing emissions.
Not forgetting that the car runs stronger and smoother without all that crap hanging off the engine.

dont loop them together! just plug them with the shank of a bolt or a nice new shiny ball bearing.
with them looped the EGR modulater will be getting mixed signals.

I have a kit inbound from pommyland and can't wait to get it fitted.

With the airbox tidied up (de-hycloned), new air filter, a cleaned up exhaust (bellowed flex joined removed), snorkel fitted and an ecu almost back through the door after Tombie2's help....standby for a low flying Deefer !! Well compared the the standard truck anyway.:cool:

So whats the best way to elimiate the bellows type flex joint?
Is a flex joint really needed, seems a car gets along fine without one?
The complete exhaust is rubber mounted so fibes and flex should not be a problem?????

the flex joint is there to take the added flex of the whole system off the exhaust manifold. too much shaking and it will crack. (manifold)
the bellows is replaced by a woven S/S flex joint that has a larger ID.

I got the inlet manifold off yesterday and i was very shocked how much crap was in side it and when i was washing it with the gerni i noticed there were in a couple of ports some flakes of ali blew off maybe something to watch out for if your cleaning it out the im unhappy at the fact i cant clean the head as i have cleaned everything else but hey i have striped enough off the front of the car i cant belive that car makers can make these cars with such big defects in them to have all that crap going in to yor cars engine i was also told to drill out the outer holes in the manifold if that helps any 1 cheers
