    Exhaust Stud

    G'day All,

May 1995 V8i Disco: As a result of the front prop shaft failing and flaying about, the exhaust pipe was hit and the joint opened up between the exhaust manifold and down-pipe. After a week of wondering how a "simple" little hit could stretch the bolt(s) I've found that the offside stud doesn't have a nut ... well that'll be the problem. The down-pipe has tilted a little allowing the V8 gurble to change to a ... doesn't bear describing.

I have searched .... can someone tell me the specification for the required nut, please.

    Thanks

    Grant

    Answer

    Mate,

    ... it's an M8 x 1.25

Was discussed elsewhere on here but no definitive answer; fun, but no answer

    All is tickety-boo

    Cheers,

assuming you mean the flange bolt and not the manifold to head studs nuts your looking near the limit for an m8, work on 65nm till someone gets a proper answer for you...

that (for me) is the upper end of what I can comfortabley swing on a stock length sidcrhome/kingchrome 1/2 inch drive ratchet with one hand. I can go further.

    Thanks BlkNight,

Manifold to exhaust downpipe, not manifold to head. M8 was what was there, only one nut was missing.

    Cheers,
