All you need is a set of 2" lifted coils.
Preferably also fit matched shocks too, and extended brake lines but thats it.
Everything else isn't IMO needed for a 2" lift.
Hi guys,
Well im totally confused regarding a 2" lift.
There is so many options ie. lower shock mounts ect.
I wish to gain some more flex and fit 33" tyres. I dont wish to spend bookoos of dollars but dont want crap either.
What is actually required to achieve this ie. replace radius arms, rods, cos i really am confused with the caster correction side of things and do you need to upgrade props or other items ?
Cheers all help and info is appreciated. Shane.

i have just done this exercise...
when i purchased the defender it had a 2" TJM lift..which sagged significantly after a disappointingly short period of time. it was done with coil springs and new shocks. that is all that is REALLY necessary. however, for surprisingly little more money, you can get an extra inch of lift using good quality, off the shelf partswhich is what i have done. where abouts in our great brown land are you based?
Im in Adelaide. So what mods did you do?
I'll back Psimspon7 but you do need to pick your springs and shockies carefully or you will loose some height from the spring settling.
I also think that rebuilding the propshaft is a good idea.

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
Shano, do a search on here (the search function is excellent) as there are stacks of posts where the ins and outs of various mods and spring rates, tower heights, shock lengths, retained vs dislocated springs, etc are discussed.
What do you really want to achieve ?
More flex and a bit better articulation off road ?
Slightly better load carrying ?
Just make it look better by sitting a little higher ?
If either of the last two, most off the shelf kits will fit your bill, if you want the first one you will have to do a little reading, a little thinking, a little fabricating and a little parts matching, although there are a couple of companies such as Les Richmond Automotive in Melbourne, The Ultimate Suspension at Minto (Sydney) and from what I've read on here, Shane at Suspension Stuff that can sell you the bits to get the extra bit of articulation with a small lift.
A couple of basics on springs, most off the shelf 'lifts' will increase the ride height, but often at the expense of flex as they use a much higher spring rate to achieve the lift. This is good for load carrying on a trip or to look 'better' but not great for increased articulation.
A higher rate spring with a 400-50mm lift is roughly the same length or barely any taller than a stock one at unloaded height. Couple this with stock length shocks and you've reduced droop, meaning the axle will drop less from normal ride height when going over a depression or hole, so you are more likely to lift a wheel with this sort of setup.
Some good discussions (and it could confuse the hell out of you too)
