    Hyclones are a hoax,

TD5's go better as the great man Tombie2 say's with that whirly bloody thing removed.

I took out my Hyclone-like device, and my wife left me. Don't do it Boggo. Everything Leo109 says about Hyclones is true.

DAMN... I took my Hyclone out - She's still here

I even cut out the entire internals of the airbox... She's still here...

    Back to the drawing board

On a serious note - Even LR deleted the fins in later models

This is why the V8s use so much fuel - they don't have the "Hyclone-like device"!

Doesn't the "Hyclone like device" have a job? Not to swirl the air in hyclone like fashion to (allegedly) improve flow but to swirl it to chuck the larger bits of debris that come in on the airflow into the lip on the air filter inlet so they drop into the dump valve? I had a look this morning all fired up to rip it out (not to lose the wife but to make the car go better ) but there does seem to be some logic going on down there. Dump valve contained a mass of leaves and other bits that resembled a cats furball...

Its a dust extractor, but with a snorkel there's nothing like the amount of dust compared with sucking the air from under the guard.
