    TD5 Tacho for 2005 Defender

Hi - new to this forum.
I am trying to install a VDO TD5 tacho in my 2005 Defender 110. I connected it to pin #19 of the black covered ECU and nothing happens. All other connection to power and -ve appear to be OK. I keep reading that the connection to the TD5 is to the ECU and not the W terminal on the alternator.
Could it be that the gauge is faulty? Having TD5 written on the gauge should indicate that is should run off the ECU connection and not the W connection!

Any help from someone who has fitted one would be great.

is it the right gauge or should it be wired to the ''w'' terminal (that the td5 dosent have)?
there are a few posts on here about the install, have a search.

maybe your ecu has the tacho function disabled? you will have to find someone with a nanocom to confirm this.

    cheers phil
