I've heard that there are handbrake issues on some of the TD4's, and that quite possibly they might be adjusted too tight. I've seen a handbrake drum get extremely hot on a range Rover where the linkage had been damaged. Could that be a cause?. I checked mine on a 40C day after a 100k drive and it was the same temp on the floor/tunnel as the rest of the body.
After I had my County rebuilt we experienced a hot floor, but more like 70 degrees.
It turned out to be a tiny pinhole in the new exhaust. You could neither see nor hear it, but running your hand between the floorboards & exhaust, you could feel it with the engine running.
BTW I had a Mazda capella in the early 70's & you could'nt hold your hand on the gearbox. Every car I've had since has been the same- curious bugger aint I ?

I have a 300tdi 130 that gets a hot floor on a long trip. When we were kids we had a 110 county V8 and the black strip behind the front seats would get so hot you couldn't put your bare feet on it. the 130 doesn't get as hot and seems to be better now I have it running cooler but that wouldn't be the problem in the new one - just the design not being able to get rid of the hot air from exhaust, radiator, air con condensor etc.
to rid heat from the exhaust system you can have it ceramic coated, apparently you can put your hand on the pipe pretty well straight after its turned off.
This thread takes me back to my SWB series III about 22 years ago; I had a case of Stanley screwdrivers in the box under the passenger seat- the handles all melted!
