Had dramas with my starter motor the other week.. was make the CLICK sound with out turning. I suspected the solnoid or brushes. came good with a tap with a D shackle.

Did the ring around for a new starter motor.. 500 plus.. wow.. Started to consider importing one via ebay uk or rebuilding this one. After some research on eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace and found a kit to rebuild the starter motor solinoid. search for td5 starter motor repair kit.

Pulled the starter motor to bits to find that the brass contacts had just arc away. put the new parts in, job done.

Cost me one tenth the price and had the job done in 3 hours.. all the bearings, brushes, teeth, armiture, etc looked fine should be good for another 150,000 km.

with that cash saved i might go get a pair of bilsteins for the front of the defender...
