    Series 111 brake problems

I need help with my brakes.
I have a series111, lwb with a pbr braker booster fitted, I've fitted new brake linnings all round, all new wheel cylinders and eveything is nice and clean. Problem is, sometimes the brakes won't come off after using them, I have to crack a bleed valve on one of the wheels or on the booster. It has good brakes but they hang on. Last thing I tried was taking the vacum line off the booster but made no difference.
    What to do now??

G'day All, I hate brakes LOL, but did you set up the brake pedal as per the book, i.e. pedal height off the floor, and the little bit of play in the M/cyl pushrod?, it all adds up if you don't, and like I said I hate brakes, my worst nightmare good luck with it and maybe somebody might have just the right answer for you cheers mate Dennis

Replace the three rubber flexible brake lines. As when they age bits of rubber on the inside of the line break off and act as a one way valve as they float to either ends of the flexible line.

I have had this problem on my S3 before.

Hi, I haven't changed or checked any of the areas you mention, will do this next. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 klms of driving and using the brakes, before they lock up.

Sounds like it's in the hydraulics or as Dinty suggested, the pedal adjustment but it might also be worth checking the return springs on the shoes for correct fitment/tension.

Sounds like pushrod adjustment on the master cylinder. Like what was said, check pedal height and freeplay. When they stick on does the brake pedal feel very hard and no freeplay. If so it usually means adjusting the freeplay on the master cylinder pushrod. To do this take the top off the brake box under the bonnet and adjust the pushrod shorter.

    Sticking wheel cylinder(s)????.
Series brake parts are cheap.Renew the cylinders and flexible hoses for a starter, worth replacing the master cylinder as well.
Incorrectly adjusted or broken snail cam adjusters can be an issue,as can be worn out linings.

    Series 111 brake problems

    Hi,
Thanks to everyone for your replies, I tried most of the suggestions but none worked, in the end I bypassed the booster and everything is working fine.
The brake shop suggested that the booster was not compatiable with the master cylinder, I plan to have this confirmed. For the moment we have good brakes.
    Thank you,
