    Smile Bead Locks any good

Please let me know if you are using internal bead locks and if they are any good.
Do they affect the balancing of the wheel or any other side effects?
Do you need them at all.

    Thanks guys for your advise.

I actually won a set of bead locks on the now defunct 4x4 show but Staun never sent them, I think it was because I owned a Disco. Anyway from what my friends tell me that do have them they apparently work well. But I was told at a recent 4x4 Camping Show that they are not legal for use on road.

I am pretty sure the inflatable ones are legal on the road... The weld on ones I think aren't.

    Nah Pete

I heard from a mate of a mate that they aren't legal

Something to do with modification of the wheel (hole for the second stem)

As I understood it, the internal beadlock is legal, but the drilling of the rim is not allowed unless it is done by one of a few approved rim manufacturers/repairers - and that this club of people is a bit of a closed shop.

That is interesting I have always had a bit of time for the Staun products but that is the sort of thing that really colors my perception of a company, I will keep that in mind in the future
