Why would one bother with the expense and hassle...

Even in the Disco, with all the extras, Remote Canister shocks, 2nd Battery tray and Provent its only a few minutes of "tongue in right spot, few swear words" and its done...

Sent from my work PC because I'm having a CBF day
So how many Td5 owners only change their oil every 20K?

    Cheers,

15-20k and I get my oil at cost.... Delvac1 synthetic....

Overly frequent changes really serves no purpose. Either at specified km/time intervals or when it goes black, which ever occurs first.

You call this a "stoopid post" because you disagree with what I have done, like I said this is what I did. Doesn't mean I advocate every one does it.
GET OVER YOURSELVES, you bunch of opionated snobs!! This is why forums are dangerous, because ******* get on and bag others out. This forum used to be about sharing a mutual interest, now it seems no one can put a post up without some one having a go at them.

Get a life people, this is just a forum and peoples opinions should be respected for just that, opinions!!

I won't come back to this anytime soon.

Let's see..... Your a tyre fitter, clever guy, can lift heavy things, I was in diesel power and engineering and now work for the inventor of the diesel engine..... Nope you must be right......
I'll let Isuzurover list his own list of initials he carries after his name....
It dickheads like you who give this information to the the unsuspecting general public.
Whether you come back or not is your decision, one I really couldn't give a toss about but FYI Einstein, the "dangerous" part is when redneck prats much like yourself suggest, and I quote, "removing it because it was broken OK!!"
I don't tell you how to change a tyre and quite frankly I couldn't care less neither do I have a need to know.
As for get a life, repeat this over and over to yourself when the wealth of experience and knowledge you so generously donate to someone with limited experience takes it inboard and ends up stranded in the middle of nowhere unexpectedly with no help around for miles. That's what's dangerous on forums like this. The simple fact basically no one agrees with you should tell you something....

Now go away and do somethin tyre related..... Snapperhead......

If you want to call me a dickhead please do but at least be man enough to do it to my face and not hide on a forum.

What a **** where a forum allows someone like you to stage a personal attack without a moderator coming in.

Enjoy your pathetic life attacking other peoples opinions.

I am not a moderator but if you need a moderator to tell you I am sure that can be arranged.

STOP IT, be CIVIL and don't drag it down to where the rest of us don't want to go.

    Mod hat on

    This post has been reported.

Time to draw a line in the sand folks. Reread the rules, any further personal attacks won't be tolerated and infractions/banning will follow if this behaviour continues.

    Hi All

I would rather find out what broke the centrifical filter housing in the first place, rather then reading a slanging match.

By the way, I do believe in frequent oil and filter changes, with both of my vehicles, they get changed about 5 - 7000 Klms depending on the work at the time.

The wifes D1 300TDi auto, does not use any oil between changes. This motor has done as of this morning when I read it, 499182 Klms, it starts and runs very nicey, with no fuming, i.e. the air filter has no oil stains on it. The other thing I have noticed, is that the fresh oil also helps keep fuel consumption down, consistently less than 10lts / 100 k.

I would like to know if centrifical filters could be adapted to fit onto the 300TDi motors.

    Cheers Arthur

I'm embarrased to read this thread! I can't believe how it degenerated.
I, too would've left the centrifuge in place, but I can see why he did it that way, and it is a neat installation, too. If someone has an idea, however anyone else may seem is unusual or unnecessary, it is THEIR business, they are just sharing it with others who may also entertain doing a similar thing etc.
For those who don't know, the 4 cyl diesel Toyota Hilux and early Cruiser engines which are just the worst soot factories known, use 1 Z9 oil filter. Works alright for them. (Still have to change them regularly though...5K for the 3L and 5L!!)

IF it were a dangerous or unroadworthy modification, then fair enough but to hammer someone over this is just ridiculous.

I apologise to the OP for the rubbishing he recieved.

Arthur, Due to the 300Tdi not having much of a sooting problem, (and I stress this mostly applies to non tweaked examples), I wouldn't think it entirely necessary. The modern diesel oils are excellent, if you are changing at less than 10K and not driving it like you stole it or conversely not idling it around town all day, I would leave it as is.
A centrifugal filter on a Toyota 3L, 5L or any of the H series engines would probably help THEM though
