    Rangie brakes again

The Grinch is complaining her brakes stopped working again(86 Rangie)
I replaced the master cylinder with a brand new one a few weeks back, all has been good.
She says foot goes to the floor and no brakes.
Last time I couldnt trick it into happening.I think she may idle around town with her foot on the brake to slow it down(its auto) using the vaccum up.She says no way.
    Ideas please.

Jump in the car and start it .... Drive to a slight Down Hill position

    Put it in Drive

Put your foot on the brake and hold it as tho your "just stopping at a intersection"

Adjust the pressure of your foot on brake so that it is "slight pressure" or Medium or Heavy (60 to 90 seconds)

Can you feel the brake pedal fading???

Do a booster check. Stomp on the pedal a few times with the engine off untill it goes really hard.

Put light pressure on the pedal and start the engine. Your foot should move towards the floor as the engine fires. Should only move maybe somewhere between 1/2 to 1 inch at the pedal pad.
If you get no movement, your booster has a leak somewhere.
If it moves all the way to the floor, its a hydraulic problem.
As you have replaced the m/cyl, I would be looking at brake hoses to see if they are balooning. Another is the PRV valve that regulates rear brake bias also, but normally in this case your rears would lock up.
Sticky caliper pistons are another avenue.

    Cheers

She says foot goes to the floor and no brakes.
The ONLY way this can happen is for fluid to bypass a seal somewhere.

So your new Master cylinder must be cactus, as there is a split system on Rangies that will give some pedal if a caliper is crook. Unless you do not have enough fluid in the reservoir.

If the vacuum booster is bad , you will just get a very hard pedal , funnily enough just like if you had the engine off.

There are two bleed nipples on a Disco 1 calliper. Is this the same as a Rangie? I've been told that you need to bleed both, I got this info from Tank on this forum, perhaps you should PM the man.

Sean, there is actually 3 bleed nipples on my 93 disco 4 pot calipers, the 3rd nipple is on the wheel side of the caliper at the top, you bleed the bottom nipple first then the top inside and outside nipples together. If you dont you end up with a gut full of air in the outside cylinders and when brakes get warm pedal will drop to the floor. I drained all of the fluid out and replaced it and bled properly and have had no trouble since, Regards Frank.
