Question body lift bolts - HT???

    okay,

we all know you should use high tensile bolts for body lifts...well, do you have to?

If you have bought them in the past, you will know how damn expensive they are compared to other bolts. I am not a scrooge and safety is of the utmost importance cause you dont want your chassis going left and your body going right but is there another alternative to using grade 8 (i think they are) HT bolts.

is there another strong bolt out there that I dont know about that will handle this job?

    any info appreciated.

I used high tensile in mine.

    Why would you risk it?

Sorry Mark, but with the flex and stresses on these body mounts, a grade 8.8 is the minimum required. Let me know the length I can get some for you if you like...

As Justin said, 8.8 bolts and nyloc nuts. thats it full stop, law requires it.

if you dont use them, and god forbid you have an accident: no insurance at all if you are caught out.

you guys missed the point. I was asking if there was another alternative that is just as good as HT but without the cost.

$70 hey Pete, I got my last set out there and it was just over the $100

I have been told that the cheapest place to buy High Tensile Nuts and bolts is from your Caterpillar dealer (William Adams in TAS). Even cheaper than Nut and Bolts Tas apparently. Have yet to check this might be worth trying though.

    Cheers
