    Question Electrics

After the 3rd full day without my car... my new bullbar is fitted ..... well kind of. Anyway to cut a long and very boring story short I have a problem with the 2 new in bull bar parkers/blinkers. Whenever I turn the blinker on it also illuminates the Trailer image on the dash in sequence with the blinker.... Now I now there is a fix for this.... but what is it?....

Looking forward for any help I can get.

    Thanks in advance

Replace the bull-bar blinker globes with 5W parking light globes.

I seem to remember seeing a fix that used LEDs but I suspect the 5W solution is the same - just need to reduce the Watts

I've just left the brighter globes in for obvious reasons. You get used to the dash idiosyncrasy.

the car's system is sensing that there is extra current draw, as planned by mr and mrs land rover, they only planned for a trailer to be fitted.
the pomms never did understand our need for a 'roo' bar which we all now call a 'bull bar'
so in fitting extra lamps your car is sensing the extra load and telling you that your trailer lights are working, she just doesn't know you don't have a trailer.
be happy in the knowledge that when your 'roo' bar lamps fail, the trailer symbol will not illuminate, and therefore you will know the lamps are out.

Not quite true. They just didn't plan for ADR's requiring additional indicators in the bull bar. They assumed that any additional indicators fitted to the vehicle would obviously mean a trailer.

What they haven't done though is develop it so that this setup understands the trailer has LED lights. My Kimberley Kamper won't trigger the trailer flasher on my new Defender as its all LED, but I still had to put 5W bulbs in the ARB bar's indicators to stop them triggering it.

I puchased two bayonet style white LEDs from Dick smiths for around seven dollars each. Nice and bright and no more trailer symbol.
    Too easy

For the price of the ARB bar you would think that they would supply better lights ie LED's

The ones on my D1 continually needed to be pulled apart and cleaned.
