Loud Cracking noises from under the D2

Firstly, what I have done to the car suspension wise.

    1) Rebuilt and re-valved the rear shocks

    2) replaced radius arms.

Now I had had a slight clunk from the rear when taking off, I'm assuming this may be the Watts link, so, any thoughts on the very loud cracking sound, sounds very much like dislocating cones.

It is the loudest when it is articulating, but happens when at speed on rough roads, a very loud cracking like a machine gun going off.

I have looked under the car, the bushes look good, there is no signs of a metal on metal wear marks, every things looks as it should.

Could it be the shocks, could they have done something when rebuilding them, could the springs be moving in and out of place (although I couldn't see sings of this)

    I'm stumped

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

Mine used to do that. It was the spring cracking out at full drop as the perch was released as it rotated out from under the spring. Doesn't do it anymore.
    Cheers

I had this exact problem, all noise but no actual performance fault with the suspension. Had all 5 (i think) suspension bushes replaced a couple of months ago and its gone.

OK I tightened the arms up as best I could given what I have at home (ie) no hoist or pit, I couldn't get at them with a rattle gun, so I use my breaker bar and my legs as leverage.
They tightened up a fair bit, I gave them a test after to see if it had worked and they seem quieter, NO LOUD CRACKS, I really need somewhere with deeper ruts to test them though.

    Thanks Baz.

The first thing I thought of when I read the title of this thread was "cracked chassis near steering box"
So if it still does it have a look at the front chassis near the steering box as I have heard of D2s doing this.
    Regards Philip A
