    Rangie exhaust manifold options?

    Hi All,
A question re exhaust manifold options please?
I have a 5 litre 4.4 leyland with Rangie heads in a 76 2 door Rangie. The current extractors have a few holes in them especially around the y joins. As they are very rusty, it’s probably time to replace rather than patch. New stractors are beyond my humble budget, so I was thinking of going to late Rangie or Disco headers and y pipe, second hand of course.
Given the extra deck height of the 4.4, do you think this option will fit?

    regards,
    Russell.

My 88RR has Leyland 4.4 with 3.5 EFI heads, original 3.5 EFI exhaust manifolds fit without any problems. These are a good free-flowing manifold, I have a set of extractors in the shed but have never bothered to fit them as I don't think they would offer much improvement over the original manifolds. Shouldn't be difficult to get hold of a set.

EFI manifolds work well on a 4.4 with no gaskets and silicon. I've done heaps of them.
Just bend the pipes a little and will fit OK.

Most extractors I've seen are not tuned and to restrictive for a 4.4 or 5l. They seem to go better with EFI manifolds.

    Thanks Tony and Pod,

Much happier now...will go for cast manifolds as suggested, many thanks.
