sand rails and offroad spaceframed buggies

Naturally windscreens, wipers, lights, would be needed, what about the body requirements? What would be needed to road rego one of these? Is there a problem getting a spaceframed vehicle through due to the rigidity and lack of crumple zones?

Manx buggy's and Baja bugs can be regoed? Some rally cars are regoed? If they can get through CAMS surely it could be possible for the RTA.

A tomcat or a wildcat utilize a space frame. Still I think a VW based sandrail would be fun on road (national parks) and offroad.

baja bugs are legal simply because they were a product of the days before ADR's were in existence, and for all intents and purposes, as long as they posess the minimum requirements for a RWC, they're legal

much the same story with genuine myers manx buggies, and the replicas built after production ended would simply fall under kit car/low volume production regulations

it would be best to enquire about it on a dedicated kit car forum where people are accustomed to kit/LVP cars and the engineering hoops you have to jump through to get them legal......

You dont have to have a windscreen, but if you do it has to have 2 speed wipers etc.

If the vehicle complies with all of the rules and reg and the engineering signatory is happy with it, then you can have it registered as an ICV meaning an individually constructed vehicle.

Here is a guy in Victoria who is currently doing it.
