Been reading a few old threads trying to get my head around why my TD5 is running rough on the cruise at 100 and why it misses hesitates when I accelerate.
I just fitted my new silicone intercooler hose,(thanks Pete at BAS, 4 days from the time I ordered to arriving at my front door)
Now there was some oil inside the hoses obviously coming from the breather, good reason to fit a catch tank, could this be affecting how it runs?
Should I be giving it **** when I drive, at present I barley go over 2500rpm and most times I hardly ever push, very relaxed driving style![]()
I will be heading off to work shortly, it will be interesting to see what difference the hoses make if any.
Could this problem be with the MAF? I disconnected it the other day and honestly, I could not pick the difference. I checked the wiring loom which runs around the front of the motor, all looks good.
Or could it just be the pleasure of Land Rover ownership
So am I being to soft on her, should I be giving her the berries?
Cheers Lionel
I recon 3grand up a longish hill in 4th, once or twice a week should do the trick.![]()
I would suspect MAF or injector harness.
how noticeable should difference in engine performance be with MAF disconnected if the MAF is ok?
Always looking for creative new ways to get bogged... :whistling:
76 RR...sold coz fuel was expensive at 70c/l
93 200 Tdi Disco...old faithful...sold to make way for...
99 Td5 Disco ACE...nice drive...hopefully reliable...
Good Question, any takers on that?
As my injector loom was replaced only 3 months ago, I'm guessing that is fine.
I also checked the plug to the ECU and it is clean, no sign of oil.
Noticeable improvement in performance with the new hosesbut still runs rough at 100 kph in top gear (manual) with the hesitation on acceleration
Blowing more black smoke than ever with the new hoses but only on hard accerleration.
Shooting down to Geelong in an hour so I will disconnect the MAF and see what happens.
So am I being to soft on her, should I be giving her the berries?
Nope, clearly should'nt be giving it Banana's eaither...I mean what are you thinking man???
Ray,
Its A diesel Landf Rover not a horse it will go much better on diesel keep the fruit for the horse![]()
the MAF could be faulty, it is surposed to measure air flow and if faulty the ecu can't match the fueling to the air so you get a rich mixture (black exhaust)
